Picnic Fun
The earliest recorded picnics in 14th century England were nothing more than pre-hunt feasts. 16th century France picnics originally referred to dinners, usually eaten indoors, to which everyone present had contributed some food. The change from "everyone bringing some food" to "everyone eating out of doors" seems to have been completed by the 1860s and by the mid 19th century, Americans had also adopted a flair for picnicking.
